Hey all! I want to acknowledge something that a few of you have brought up kindly in the comments. I did not have an explicit enough part of this video where I brought up how class & race definitely impacts this form of play. Specifically in how one might remember the era, and what occurred during it. I did consider this during the scripting process, which is why I have the line where I mention that this is not about accurately recreating the era as it was, but about taking the parts of it we remember fondly particularly from media of the time. I should have been more direct with what I was trying to say here. So I want to make sure you know this now, if you happen to give a look at the comment section. This play for many people is very largely based on the memory of the white middle class suburban experience of the decade which inherently has racism and classism attached to it. Just as we need to be conscious about the assumptions we make about gender roles and such when engaging with this play it is good to also be conscious of those racial and class aspects. And recognize that while some might remember things fondly others very much do not.
