As per the original comic strip, Guzman could NOT be a better fit for the role of Gomez. Then there's the fact that he's paid his dues 10x over in H'wood and has incredible comic timing. If anybody is miscast, it's Zeta Jones as Morticia. I can think of 5 other actresses that would be a better fit for the role. But casting agents are fickle and definitely bow to the studios that retain them. Therefore we get actors in films that shouldn't be there based only on public opinion, nepotism, or in this case an actor having a husband with a very long multi generational relationship with the industry. I read a story about Virginia Gregg that was married to a studio head and she dictated that a certain actor would play certain roles to her husband and that was relayed by the actor himself. He had a very long and illustrious career after she took a shine to him. It has always been and will forever be a who you know or who you blow industry, like it or not. Just look at Dakota Johnson.
